Please read the following letter concerning
the Lovington rodeo this fall. This is a huge statement about the quality of the NMSRA athletes.
Attn: Pat Gray
I hope all the contestants and families
reached home safely after the rodeos at Lea County ’s Jake McClure Arena held on October 17th and 18th.
It was pleasure to have your
association at Lovington and we hope
to see you again.
I just wanted to pass along my feeling
of shock as I walked around the facility Sunday night and Monday morning. I do not believe I have ever
had such a large group leave the grounds in the condition I witnessed. It was such a pleasant surprise
to find that most of the stalls had been either raked out or picked up completely! The grounds and grandstands
looked as if a patrol of trash collectors had made a pass through the area! Some of the box seat chairs
were even folded and stood up.
Leaving the facility as you left
it is the best compliment your organization could have given me. As I said Sunday morning, the young men
and women of New Mexico ’s high school rodeo are tremendously polite and respectful; and again this is a credit to the
parents.
I sincerely appreciate how well all
of you treated Lea County’s facility, it makes my job that much easier. Please pass this along to
the directors and to as many members as possible…have a great holiday season.
